Tag-Based Systems
Tag-based safety systems use wearable tags to detect pedestrian proximity. When a forklift approaches too closely, the system alerts the pedestrian through vibrations and audible signals. It can also automatically slow down the forklift.
Tag-based systems also allow for truck-to-truck collision avoidance and zoning uses cases, such as automatically slowing truck downs in high traffic zones).
Tagless Systems
Tagless systems rely on onboard AI-cameras mounted on the forklift to detect pedestrians. When someone is detected nearby, the truck automatically slows down. These systems do not require pedestrians to wear any device, but only the forklift operator is alerted—pedestrians receive no direct warning.
Hybrid Approach
Combining tag-based and tagless systems creates a layered safety solution that leverages the strengths of both technologies. This dual approach enhances pedestrian detection and increases overall system reliability.
